Peanuts for Garden Birds
Wild bird peanuts are an amazing source of energy, protein and fibre for garden birds. Peanuts are high in fat which provides wild birds with energy - beneficial all year round but particularly during the winter months when trying to stay warm, and throughout the nesting and breeding season to help with nest building and caring for their young.
Peanuts are also full of good vitamins and minerals which helps birds to build and maintain muscle mass, alongside staying strong and healthy throughout the year.
This 3-litre bucket comes with a useful carry handle and contains __g of tasty bird peanuts. Once all your bird feeders are full you can simply replace the lid and safely store your bird food in your brand new airtight container. Keep the plastic bucket once emptied and use for future bird food storage.
How to Feed Peanuts to Birds
Whilst they are a great food source for wild birds, loose peanuts can be harmful to young birds as they can cause choking. For this reason we recommend that peanuts are fed to your feathered friends from a proper mesh nut feeder at all times.
Our full range of bird peanut feeders can be found here.
Birds you May Attract with Peanuts:
Blue Tits, Coal Tits, Collared Doves, Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Great Tits, Greenfinches, House Sparrows, Long-Tailed Tits, Marsh Tits, Nuthatches, Siskins, and Wood Pigeons.
Important Storage Tips
- Store your bird peanuts in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and below 14°C, ensure the lid is properly secured. If you don’t follow these storage guidelines your peanuts can go mouldy.
- A garage or dark shed is the perfect place to store your bird food. Sheds can warm up in the summer so please take extra care to ensure the bird food stays cool during the warmer months.
