Artisan Bird Nest Box

Using sustainably sourced SLVK timber and traditional dot painting techniques, each nest box becomes a stunning work of art.

Robust, eco friendly and long-lasting, these boxes provide a safe habitat year after year for small birds like blue tits and coal tits to raise their young in springtime. The birds will also appreciate roosting in the security of these nest boxes through autumn and winter before nesting again in April and May. Care should be taken not to disturb the nests during this sensitive time, as any disruption risks the parent birds abandoning their eggs or young.

Siting

The nest box should be sited on a tree, wall or garden fitting at least 1.5m – 2.5m above the ground, preferably in a place where cats and predators cannot access it. The ideal aspect is facing east, SE and NE are also fine. The box should be left empty as wild birds will bring their own nest material into the box.

Maintenance

Wipe away any external dirt with a damp cloth, avoiding anything abrasive. The inside should be cleaned just before the end of September / prior to autumn once any fledglings have left.
