The Nuttery Hexihaus Sky Blue Suet Fat Ball Feeder is the ideal way to feed tasty suet treats to your small garden birds without having to worry about squirrels or larger greedy birds taking all the suet balls or cake for themselves - however younger, smaller squirrels may still be able to reach the bird food inside this feeder.
This high quality, anti squirrel feeder features a metal cage which only small garden birds (including blue tits and robins) can fit through to access the nutritious suet inside, and this nuttery bird feeder also comes with an easy fill hopper to make refilling easy, as well as a new, larger base ring which provides extra room for your hungry birds to perch on whilst they feed.
The hexihaus crow proof bird feeder is also easy to take apart to clean now this updated version no longer comes with mesh tube moulding, and once cleaned and filled simply hang up this suet block feeder in your garden using the feeders matching metal handle.
The chain (included) hooks on to the lid and the feeder (see image) for maximum stability.
*A Note On Juvenile Squirrels and birds
The Nuttery squirrel proof feeders protect against adult grey squirrels and large adult birds. Some large birds wont be able fit their body through the bars of the feeder but could be able to get their beaks inside the feeder to access the food.
Young squirrels can potentially squeeze into the bars and access the feeder. Young squirrels look very similar to adults but are far fluffier and more flexible! Squirrels are born in March, April, July and August so there may well be a risk around these months. This issue will be the problem of any squirrel proof feeder with bars. The bar gaps cannot be made smaller as this could be a risk for the birds. You may also find that young jackdaws, crows and pigeons may find their way in, again this is a seasonal problem.
A dash of chilli flakes mixed in with the nuts or seeds will have no effect on the birds at all but will deter the squirrels if they do manage to access the feeder inside.

- Replacement Feeder
Quality Price ValueReplacement Feeder This is slightly larger than my old Nuttery Hexihaus allowing more fat balls to be held, but has been streamlined for easier cleaning. The old one allowed small birds and woodpeckers to feed while any squirrel couldn't get into it. It should be noted that both Rooks and Jackdaws had a good try, but couldn't hold on for long. - Sturdy feeder
Quality Price ValueSturdy feeder Feeder of good quality generally , but brought this because it suggests it keeps bigger birds like starlings out . It certainly does NOT !!! My large and noisy family of starlings can just about reach into it , so I can still not keep them.away from the food . Having said that it's well built , instructions how to put the inner cage in would have been good , took a few minutes to work out . Had it stop the starlings I would have given it 5 stars .
