Chalet Nest Box
Invite nature into your garden with the beautifully handcrafted 32 mm Chalet bird nest box from Tom Chambers. Designed to offer a safe and comfortable haven for small wild birds, this classic nest box is made from high-quality FSC-certified timber and finished with a durable, attractive green sloping roof that blends effortlessly into natural outdoor settings while providing year-round protection.
The 32 mm entrance hole is carefully sized to encourage popular garden species such as house sparrows, tree sparrows, great tits and nuthatches, while helping to deter larger, more aggressive birds.
For easy maintenance, the Chalet features a practical clean-out door at the rear of the box, allowing simple access when the nest box is empty and free from nesting birds.
Thoughtfully designed with bird safety in mind, the smooth-edged entrance hole and robust construction create a secure environment for nesting and raising young. The internal space offers generous comfort without exposing birds to predators or harsh weather. Finished with a striking contrasting green roof, the Chalet nest box is a simple yet elegant way to support garden birds year after year.
How to position & fit your nest box
Place the nest box in a sheltered location, away from strong winds, heavy rain and direct sunlight. Angle the front of the box slightly downwards to help prevent rain from entering.
When installing, use galvanised or stainless-steel screws or nails to prevent rusting, accessing the pre-drilled fixing hole through the side opening. If fixing the box to a tree, secure it with galvanised wire around the trunk or hang it from a sturdy branch, checking the fixings regularly.
Ensure the nest box is positioned out of reach of cats and squirrels, and install it high on a wall—at least 3 metres above ground level—for added protection.
