Placement:

As this feeder operates on a weight activating closing mechanism, a squirrel's weight will trigger this closing mechanism, so the suet feeder needs to be placed with a clearance of 18 inch (47cm). If a squirrel can reach over from a neaby foothold and avoid placing its weight on the feeder, it will be able to access the suet cake. Allowing for an 18 inch clearance forces the squirrel to climb onto the feeder, which will then trigger the closing mechanism and prevent access.
