Natures Market Standard Fat Ball Feeder with Squirrel Guard. This Bonningtons Suet Ball Feeder is made from a green powder coated metal construction. The feeders powder coated finish provides resistance from the elements and a high-quality cover.

This fat ball feeders caged design helps to deter squirrels from accessing and stealing the seeds, which allows your garden birds to feed in peace.

The feeders hinged, clip down lid impedes squirrels access to the seeds and helps keep the fat balls dry, this feeder also comes complete with a hanging loop.

Height: 25cm x Width: 18cm x Diameter: 18cm.

*A Note On Juvenile Squirrels

The feeders can only protect against adult grey squirrels.  Some birds, such as a woodpecker, wont fit through the bars but could manage to get their beaks inside and access the food.

There is always a chance than an adolescent young squirrel could squeeze into the bars and access the feeder.  The young squirrels look very similar to adults but are actually far fluffier making them much more flexible!  Squirrels are normally born in March, April, July and August so there may well be a risk around these months. This is short term issue and will be the problem of any feeder that has researched the necessary bar spacing required.  You may also find that jackdaws, crows and pigeons may find their way in.  The bars on these feeders cannot be made smaller to protect from adolescent or red squirrels as this would pose a risk to the birds.

If squirrels do manage to get into the feeders to prevent damage to the plastic tubes a a dash of chilli flakes mixed in with the nuts or seeds will have no effect on the birds at all but will deter the squirrels.

Lightweight, lid stays closed despite the efforts of the squirrels. The wee blue tits and green finches love it ????

Properly squirrel proof but not crow proof! My poor little birds had to wait their turn but it did make it more difficult for the crows to demolish the fat balls.
