Niger Seed (sometimes referred to as Nyjer Seed, or Niger Thistle) is an oil-rich seed that is popular among Siskins, Goldfinches, Chaffinches and Coal Tits, a colourful range of wild birds that make great visitors into your garden. What better way to welcome them than with such a desirable treat?
It’s best to keep Niger Seed fresh as it tends to be ignored when it’s dried out. To ensure the seed stays in the best condition it is best stored in an air tight container.
A smaller seed, Niger requires feeders that can stop it from spilling out and can catch discarded shells. We stock a large range of specially-designed feeders perfect for your garden no matter the size.
Birds that love niger seed are Bullfinches, Chaffinches, Goldfinches, Greenfinches, Redpolls and Collared Doves.
Please note, Niger Seed may potentially germinate and grow when fallen under feeders if conditions are suitable.
