Our Artisan Wild Bird Nester range includes the Sari model, a 'bell-shaped' design with a medium-sized cavity and small entrance hole - perfect for housing small garden bird species like Blue and Coal Tits, which roost alone or in pairs.

The Fair Trade Bird Nester features a sturdy inner frame for support, with strong metal hooks at the rear and a long loop at the top. This allows you to securely fasten the nester within natural foliage like ivy, bushes, trees, or hedges. The small, round entrance is reinforced with steel and slightly protruding, making it easy for birds to land and perch.

Purchasing this Fair Trade product supports both wildlife and people. In addition to providing a nesting spot for birds, you'll be supporting the Artisan workers in Southern Bangladesh who handcraft these high-quality nesteres using hogla grass and recycled saris. This helps sustain many women and their families from rural communities in desperate poverty. Hogla is a type of abundant, fast-growing grass in Bangladesh often considered a weed, which the local villagers regularly remove.

Each Artisan-crafted nester is unique in color, as the artisans choose from a variety of vibrant recycled sari patterns, ensuring no two nesteres are exactly alike.

Siting

Position the bird nester in a sheltered space to keep out harsh weather. Preferably face the bird nester between North and South-East. A warm, protected roosting space out of the prevailing wind can be a lifesaver for small birds during cold, harsh weather conditions.
