Weather Hits Sunflower Chips Appearance:
Poor weather has led to the worst Sunflower crop in Europe in over 10 years. As a result, sunflower seed heart chips may be smaller on average, with a small percentage being ground rather than chipped. Whilst affecting the aesthetic of the sunflower chip, it will not change the nutritional benefits of this highly nutritious feed.

Bird Foods are not fit for human consumption.

Sunflower Seed Heart Chips are one of the super foods for garden birds. Chips are dehusked sunflower hearts broken into smaller bite size pieces so contain all the excellent nutrition and essential oils of a full sunflower heart.

A great alternative to Premium Sunflower Seed Hearts, Sunflower Heart Chips are great for attracting smaller garden birds who favour the more manageable chips. Birds such as members of the Tit family and finches love them.

Sunflower Chips can be used year round but are particularly good during fledgling season as parent birds can easily feed on them to replenish much needed energy as well as being able to feed directly to their young.

The lack of a husk will mean there will be less mess around your feeder and the fact that the seeds have been chipped will reduce the chance of germination, however an element will still sprout.

Due to the process involved to chip the sunflower, it is possible that some black sunflower husk is still left attached to the chipped sunflower. The black husk may fall off during transit, but will still remain mixed inside the bag of chips. This will not harm the birds, nor impair the nutritional content of the sunflower heart chips.

Weather has affected this years crop of sunflowers resulting in smaller seeds than usual. This has meant that the resultant chips are smaller than we would like, however they do continue to offer the same level of nutrition and oils.

Sunflower Heart Chips can be fed from Seed Feeders, Ground Feeders and Bird Tables.
